ebaying

i'm suddenly a little addicted to ebay. someone
i know needs to get this dress and soon. it's slightly
too small in the waist for me or i would snatch it
up myself.

shirt - goodys. i originally just got this tee in the black and white striped and grey, but i liked how they fit and the price so i went and got all the other colors, too. i've been wearing them like crazy.
jeans - one of those super trendy teen mall stores that only seem to stick around for 6 months and then a new one's in its place. i don't know the name of it but the jeans are called "machine jeans"
boots - steve madden via ebay. these are to replace my old target boots whose toe soles are disappearing

i've been growing my hair out and it went through this really weird awkward in between phase so i wore it up all the time. i can finally sort of stand the way it looks when it's down now, especially when i don't shampoo it and it gets huge and puffy and tall.

i write made up top of head things when i'm pretending to be busy and someone walks by my desk at work

well well well one day we went to the store and
it was all well well well because we didn't know
what to get so we got some oranges and tomatoes
and even some red peppers though they were
way too expensive for our tastes at the time but
that didn't stop us from going to every brightly
colored vegetable we saw it was all too much to
tie down pull in drag out and fight so we just let
it go and kept on going.

curtains

curtains

i've had an itch to make bright patchwork curtains
with larger fabric blocks for our computer/sewing/
music/junk room with clementine's quilt in eternal
sunshine of the spotless mind as inspiration.
especially the scene where they have the quilt hanging
in the window with the sun shining through. these
are a bit busy all together, but i think they might
look alright with more solid blocks thrown in. i
especially love the top two, but i'm not so sure
about the one on the mid left. these are all from
amy butler. if anyone has any opinions, suggestions
or other fabrics you think would fit, let me know!

storytelling

march 14, 2008

quite often m and i like to lie next to each other or,
as last night, stand in the doorway of the kitchen with
arms round the other and, swaying semicircles to music
in the background, talk about how we were before we were
together or the us before we were an us. i like to hear
him say how he's never wanted any girl as much as he's
wanted me and how much i believe him when he says it.

and we laugh and smile though it's sweetly and aching-ly
sad when we go over the first time he tried kissing me
after a day we walked together round my neighborhood and
how the next time after that we met for lunch i told him
for one reason or another that i kind of just wanted us
to be friends. and he tells me how crushed he was and i
think of how he could've disappeared and how he did
disappear for a month or so after and i want to soothe
him and so i put my hand against his head or my fingers
in his beard and kiss him with tiny sweet kisses and hope
it makes it better and forgotten.

and our most favorite is the cinco de mayo beginning of it
all and how he'd asked me to go round celebrating and how
we'd just be friends and how he'd promised to know the
difference and how at the end of the night, into the next
morning, he broke it and kissed me anyway. and
how i kissed him back and he tells me he remembers how
shocked he was that i hadn't told him to stop and that we
just kept kissing. and i tease him for his persistance
and he teases me that it paid off. but it's true and it
has and i'm glad and he's glad and i'm glad he's glad and
there's everything and there's gratitude of each other.

recent ebay purchases:

1.

ebay purchase

i love the fullness of the skirt and the yoke
and the red stripes down the front and that it
has pockets! the only thing i hate about
buying on ebay is never knowing if it's going
to fit. i should get my act together and
create an ebay or etsy store for when such
instances do happen.

2.

ebay purchase

the pair of replacement boots i've been looking
for! they're from steve madden, but are no longer
being produced so i've been scouring ebay for my
size. they're almost an exact match to my target
ones that i wear almost constantly.

i actually tried these on in the store once
and contemplated getting them, but i thought since
my current pair was exactly like them i just couldn't
validate the spending. now i wish i had gotten them
then since they were going for $10 or so. such is
hindsight.

and speaking of vintage dresses and boots:

(into) the fray featured me in a post on how to
wear cowboy boots and i was also on painfully hip
as a thrift star of the week. it's always such a
surprise to see myself on someone else's blog.

scribbled

i've decided i'd like to start writing a bit more
here since so many of my posts are photo-centric and
it's almost become a photo blog really. and i miss
my journaling and sharing and interaction of my live-
journal
days. so off to it.

also, my favorite cowboy boots that i wear
constantly are soon to give. i'm on the
lookout for the perfect replacement for
a slouchy pointy toed dark brown western
boot. i found a pair of steve maddens that
are almost an exact match, but unfortunately
they're no longer in production. watching

disenchanted playroom

a week or two ago i ran across these photographs of children watching television. the images stuck with me and i searched and searched to try and remember where i'd found them, thinking they were in one of the art books i'd processed at work. today during my lunch break i walked into the bookstore to flip through magazines to kill time and ran across them again in the latest issue of adbusters.

In these portraits it was important to record the precise moment in which the children showed absolutely no impulse or emotion at all, when it was most obvious that they had been taken in by the television in a certain way and had abandoned themselves to it—even when what they were watching was child-oriented programming. Far from demonizing the television and its possibilities, this reveals to me how the world is disenchanted for these children in that moment. (A discussion between Wolfram Hahn and Daniel Klemm)

would you rather

playing "would you rather..."

m is adorably bad at this game. while c and i
are asking the truly tough questions like "would you
rather have to wear polka dots every day or never be
able to eat ice cream again" m is asking something like
"would you rather eat cookies for breakfast or have
malaria for five months"
